Free Fishing Days June 5-6; Correction to Dates Listed in New Fishing Rule Book
The new two-year fishing law book released last month by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife incorrectly identifies the state’s spring “Free Family Fishing Days.”
As stated by law, the spring Free Family Fishing Days will be held June 5-6, 2010. On these days, any person may fish without a license so long as their license has not previously been suspended or revoked. Fishing rules and regulations on gear restrictions, and size and bag limits as listed in the fishing law book apply.
The law book incorrectly outlines this spring’s Free Family Fishing Days as May 29-30.
Free Family Fishing Days are designed as an introduction for would-be anglers to the sport of fishing in Maine’s waters. Without making a license a requirement on those days, it is a risk-free invitation for newcomers to try the sport for themselves.
